Student Scholarships and Grants
PSC offers over 300 need-based, academic merit-based, and program-specific scholarships and grants for eligible students. Scholarships and grants do not need to be repaid and may be used for tuition, fees, books, and class materials, depending on what the scholarship allows. Loans and other types of financial aid information can be found in the related articles at the bottom of this article.
To Apply
Apply for scholarships through the PSC Scholarship Portal, on the PSC Financial Aid webpage, and in the Workday Finances App under Financial Aid Links. Students only need to submit one PSC Scholarship Application each academic year to be considered. We strongly recommend that you complete the FAFSA along with the PSC Scholarship Application, which will allow you to be considered for financial need-based scholarships. Scholarships may be awarded for one term or more.
After You Apply
After you apply, you can return to the PSC Scholarship Portal at any time to review your submitted applications, apply for specialized scholarships, and view any scholarships awarded to you. You will be notified through your PirateMail account when award information has been posted. You will get an email from NextGen, PSC's scholarship manager, notifying you of the award and asking you to log in to the Scholarship Portal to accept it. At that time, you may be instructed to send a thank-you letter to the donor of the scholarship. The day after you accept the award, it will appear in Workday.
Follow these steps in Workday to view your awards and adjusted cost estimates.
1. Open the Finances app from the Workday home page or menu.
2. Select View Financial Aid.
3. Choose the Award Year - the school year when the financial aid is used. You may have only one option to choose from.
4. Click OK at the bottom of the screen.
If you were awarded grants and/or scholarships and accepted them in the Scholarship Portal, your status in Workday will display as accepted. Changing or resetting the accepted status in Workday may slow down your access to the aid. View the PSC financial aid webpage for Financial Aid disbursement, refund dates, and related information.
At the top of the screen, you can see a summary estimate of your financial aid and costs.
Below the summary is a table with your financial aid breakdown in one tab and your estimated cost breakdown in the other tab. You may also print your Financial Aid Award Letter.

Maintain Your Award Eligibility
To maintain eligibility for renewable scholarships, review all the requirements of your scholarships, which may include GPA, academic load, taking classes within your program of study, academic major, financial status, and citizenship. Pay special attention to your academic load, which is the number of credit hours you are taking. Full-time or part-time load status can be part of a scholarship's requirements. If your load status changes, your scholarship eligibility may also change. The levels of academic load status for financial aid purposes are:
- Full-time load = you are currently enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours
- 3/4-time load = you are currently enrolled in a minimum of 9 hours
- 1/2-time = you are currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours
- Less than 1/2-time = you are currently enrolled in a minimum of 1 hour
To view your academic load status, go to the Academics App and click on View My Courses under Planning & Registration. Your load status will be at the bottom of the screen.
Please continue to monitor your scholarship portal, student email, and Workday My Tasks for possible award notifications. If you have any questions, contact Financial Aid at 850-484-1680 or use their webpage to chat or look up resources. You may also contact your advisor.
