Student Work-Study Jobs

Modified on: Tue, Sep 10 2024 9:56 AM

The College Work-Study (CWS) Program can offer part-time employment to eligible students in financial need. CWS is your ticket to part-time work that fits into your busy student life. If interested, talk to Financial Aid and fill out the FAFSA. If you qualify, you can apply for work-study jobs on campus. For more on CWS, download the 2023-2024 College Work-Study Handbook.

Apply for CWS

CWS Benefits

  • You can work on campus.
  • You will make minimum wage.
  • Work is arranged around your class schedule.
  • You're paid bi-weekly.

Important CWS Considerations

  • Your work hours per week are determined after your work-study award amount is calculated.
  • CWS funds don't defer tuition and fees, so pay your PSC charges on time.
  • Student work-study award amount and/or allowable hours to work per week can change during the term due to changes in the total amount of financial assistance, federal Work-Study policy, or student eligibility. Both the student and hiring department are notified via email when this occurs.

If You're Approved for CWS

  • After you complete your FAFSA and have notified Financial Aid of your interest in Work Study, you'll be notified in your College email if you're eligible for Work Study.
  • The Work-Study Office sends the names of eligible students around to College Departments that are looking for work-study students. Departments contact students they're interested in, then interview and select students to hire.
  • If a department hires you, they'll notify the Work-Study Office and ask Human Resources to send you an onboarding packet.
  • Human Resources will send the onboarding packet to your College email and assign you onboarding action items in Workday.
  • You will get two emails after finishing the packet: one with your username for Workday and one with a link and temporary password to Workday.
  • You must take your driver’s license or valid, state-issued identity card and your Social Security card to Human Resources in Building 7 on the Pensacola campus.

How to Set Up Your Workday Profile as a Student and Employee

Once you have a work-study job, your login and primary email address will change from @students.pensacolastate.edu to @pensacolastate.edu. Your @students.pensacolastate.edu will be your secondary email address, and you will receive an email sent to either address in your Outlook Inbox. You will receive an email to your personal (not College) email address when your account is converted to an employee account. To find out how your Workday profile changes as a student employee, read Default Profile View - Student and Employee Accounts.
