New Military Relationship and VA Education Benefits Process
Effective July 7, 2025, students with a military affiliation—whether veterans, active duty service members, or dependents—will benefit from a streamlined process to certify their VA educational benefits. This will simplify eligibility for fee deferments and provide a more efficient way to notify PSC of any changes in military status. If you submitted a verification request by July 7, 2025 at 8 a.m., there is no action you need to take, but for the next academic period you enroll, complete the new tasks below in Workday. If you saved the previous task to complete later in your MyTasks, you will no longer be able to access this.
Establish Military Relationship
1. In Workday's search box, locate and click the Military Relationship Setup Request task.
This task only needs to be completed once. However, if your relationship or benefits change, you must resubmit. If you receive multiple types of VA benefits, you’ll need to submit a separate request for each one. We will honor the most recent request if there are multiple. You can complete this using Workday desktop, mobile, or browser.

2. Indicate your military relationship and which educational benefits you'd like to use.

After making your selections, please review the instructional text to understand what documentation may be required to include with your request.
3. Attach any necessary documents. If you have already submitted the required documentation, there is no need to resubmit it. However, failing to provide the necessary documents based on your selections may result in delays in processing your request.
4. Click Submit Request when completed.
The Veteran and Military Family Service Center (VMFSC) will review your request. You will receive a Workday notification and email informing you of the status of this request. Please read any comments provided.
Once the Military Relationship Setup Request is approved and you have registered for at least one course, submit your Veterans Administration Certification and Fee Deferment Request only if you are using any of these VA educational benefits:
- DEA (CH 35) Dependent of Disabled Veteran
- Post 9/11 (CH 33)
- Montgomery (CH 30)
- Montgomery Selected Reserve (CH 1606)
VA Certification and Fee Deferment
1. In Workday's search box, locate and click the Veterans Administration Certification and Fee Deferment Request task.
This request must be completed each academic period when using any of these VA benefits:
- DEA (CH 35) Dependent of Disabled Veteran
- Post 9/11 (CH 33)
- Montgomery (CH 30)
- Montgomery Selected Reserve (CH 1606)

2. Select the Academic Period you're verifying and/or requesting deferment.
An alert will populate if you have no course registrations for the selected academic period or if a request has already been created for this benefit and academic period. You cannot submit changes for the same educational benefit and academic period.
3. Indicate if you'll be using VA educational benefits.
4. Click Submit Request when completed.
You will be notified in Workday and your email once your request has been processed. Please read any comments provided. If you make changes to your course registrations after completing the Veterans Administration Certification and Fee Deferment Request or have any additional questions, please contact the VMFSC at 850-484-1670 or email veterans@pensacolastate.edu.
